unusual logon problem

I recently upgraded an XP pro drive to 120 gig using part magic 8. The
previous 20 gig xp system worked flawlessly. It is a part of a SBS2003
network. After rebooting to the new drive it will ask for password to login
to the network( as it does normally), after I do this it asks it again. and
again, and again. I put the origional drive back in and it logs on
perfectly.

Any ideas?

Since your post is a few hours old and nobody has replied I'd suggest
reposting but with more detail. You mention PM8 but you don't say if the
new drive is an image of the old or what you did.

Sorry for the vagueness.

The process was cloning the partition from one drive to another. I had
sucessfully done this on 3 machines prior to this. All with windows xp sp2. I
read about the userinit.exe registry entry problem, however when I looked at
it, it was correct. (properly pathed) I put the old drive back in and it
boots fine. When I looked in the error logs on the new (bad) drive, I saw
DCOM errors referring to IIS process not starting, and some group ploicy
object errors. But whether I login as local admin for the machine or domain
admin for the domain, it logs on then logs right back off.

Very strange.
