Unread messages not appearing in inbox

I have emails in the unread email folder that do not appear in my inbox. How
do I fix this and can I get rid of the unread email folder?

Are you sure they are located in your inbox? They could be in other folders.
If you look at your list of emails one of the columns will say "In Folder".
This will tell you what folder that particular email is in.

Hi Scott,

They are not in my inbox. They only appear in the unread mail folder. I
have to scour the unread mail folder to make sure I haven't missed any
important emails.

Thanks,

Gary

Hi Diane,

These messages don't appear in my inbox. If I delete the unread mail
folder, I could lose important emails.

Thanks,

Gary

Select the Unread folder and hit delete if you really want to be rid of it.

Not at all. The Unread Mail folder isn't a real folder.

Anyway, where does the Unread Mail folder say your messages are?

Hi Brian,

There is no indication that emails are not in the inbox. I just look in the
unread mail file and find emails there that I know are not in the inbox.

Regards,

Gary

You didn't answer my question. The Unread Mail folder contains the "In
Folder" column that tells you where each message actually resides. Where
does that field say the messages are? If it says "Inbox", then they are in
the Inbox no matter what you believe. The likely cause is that you have a
filtered view in the Inbox that is hiding the messages, but they're still
there.

Hi Brian,

Thank you. I did as you requested. You are right, however, what do you
mean by filters and what could I have done to set them up?

Try starting Outlook once with the /cleanviews command switch.

Start>Run. Put

outlook.exe /cleanviews

in the Open field and click OK. Be sure to include the space.
