unread mail

In 2007, folders with new mail are showing up in bold instead of showing up
in Unread Mail. Is there some setting somewhere I might have changed
inadvertently that I can change back to get new email to show up in Unread
Mail again?

The Unread Mail folder is a Search Folder. Check its search conditions to
make sure the right folders are included for the query.

How do you do that? When I right-click on the folder and select "Customize
this search folder", I get a dialog whose "Criteria..." button is disabled.

Perhaps the search criteria for this folder cannot be changed?

I'm using Outlook 2003 SP2.

Now I'm cofused; are you using Outlook 2007 or 2003? In your first post you
said 2007?\

What mail account type are you using? Are the messages kept in the same
foldersset as the Unraid Mail Search Folder?

Mark isn't me; I posted the original message. But I have the same problem as
he does. In 2007, the right click Criteria tab is grayed out.

I guess my mail type is Internet mail? It's a POP, not IMAP or Exchange.

Same .pst as I had when I had Outlook 2003. BTW, this worked until a couple
days ago, then it started doing what it's doing now.

I think you missed the "Sender" of the posts. I am not the OP.

I'm using Exchange Server. All e-mail is kept on the server, but I don't
know how to tell if they're in the same "folderset". It was set up for
me (and all other employees) by the sys admin.

Yep, I think he did too.

However, I stumbled on something that might help you. In Outlook 2007,
there's a new version of what Outlook 2003 calls Detect and Repair. Running
this fixed my problem; maybe using Detect and Repair will solve yours. Worth
a try if you haven't done this already.

Yep, I didn't notice that one ;-)

Mark, if the repair doesn't work for you feel free to check back.

I had just removed and reinstalled Outlook a few days ago, so
I'm not sure that a repair install is going to make any difference.

However, I don't need this to work - I was just pointing out that
it didn't do what you described. - perhaps my profile is corrupted
or this feature doesn't exist on Outlook 2003 SP2?

Oh well - no big deal.

Thanks,

Works as a charm! You might want to delete and recreate the Unread Mail
folder by File-> New-> Search Folder. There is a deafult template for it
already; can't go wrong and worth a shot!

Well, I right-clicked on Search Folders and selected "New search folder..."
I selected Unread mail, and made sure that my mail box was selected in the
"Search mail in:" selector.

However, when right-clicking on the newly created search folder and selecting
"Customize this search folder...", the "Criteria..." button is still disabled.

Perhaps because I'm running against an Exchange Server, it doesn't allow me to
change the settings?

Again, I'm running Outlook 2003/SP2 on a Windows/2000 Professional machine. I'm
not sure what the Exchange Server is and on what machine/operating system it is
running.

Hmmmmm.
