unread mail messages

M

Maeve O'Neill

I have different user accounts on my computer. On the
main window under each name, it says we each have a
certain number of unread mail messages. What or where are
these, and how can I get rid of them? I dont know how to
find the answers to these posts so if you could please e-
mail me at (e-mail address removed)

Hi!
"Overview of the Mail Notification Display on the Windows XP Welcome
Screen" http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=304148
Start a registry editor (e.g., regedit.exe).[start>Run>Regedit.exe]
Navigate to the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail
subkey.
Double-click MessageExpiryDays (or create a new value of type DWORD if
MessageExpiryDays doesn't exist), set the value to 0, then click OK.
Close the registry editor.
or,
you may download and install power toys from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...s/powertoys.asp

Then execute tweakui, select "logon", unread mail, and untick the
relevant options Screen.

Compliments of Kelly:

Use TweakUI/Logon/Unread Mail and Repair/Unread Mail Count
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Disable Unread Mail on the Welcome Screen (Line 100)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To remove an account or to change the count manually Got to:
Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Your
E-Mail Address]. In the right pane modify: Message Count, Change it to 0.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail. In
the right pane modify: MessageExpiryDays Change it to 0.
