My computer won't boot up...

Here's the BSOD message...

Unmountable_Boot_Volume

***Stop:0x000000ED (0x82392590, 0xC000009C, 0x00000000,0x00000000)

I've managed to get into Safe Mode using the "windows domain only" mode.
All other modes failed.

So has anyone any idea how to fix this?

Lawrence;
Power off
Desktop:...Open the case and reseat the hard drive IDE ribbon cable at both
ends.
Laptop/Portables:... simply remove and reinsert the hard drive.
If that fails:

Otherwise go to the website of the hard drive manufacturer and download
their hard drive diagnostics.

Do you have a hard drive overlay such as Max Blast?
Windows XP sometimes has issues with overlay software.
You may need to perform a Clean Installation without their overlay software
which is not needed anyway.

Thank you.
Running the chkdsk on the C drive appears to have done the trick.

I think the article on...
Stop 0x000000ED Error Message When Volume on IDE Drive with Caching Enabled
Is Mounted

Described my situation best.

It looks like my machine has simply got too slow to run Win XP and had
accumulated too many errors on the disk through frozen shut downs and
programme freezes.

As XP has downloaded the updates all my machines have run slower and slower
and now the oldest has finally come to the end of its life I think.

But at least I can back up everything now before ditching it.
