hi i'm getting the unmountable boot volume error since i had to
manually shut down the computer. from what i've read, i should be
easily able to fix this by going to the recovery console from the
windows cd but unfortunately it won't boot from the cd either. so i
have no clue how to fix this, give me any ideas u can.

An unmountable boot volume often indicates a disk hardware
problem. Boot the machine with the diagnostic disk that you
can download from your disk manufacturer's home site.

Do you have the cd drive selected as first boot device in the Bios?
