Unmountable Boot Volume

I have a Toshiba Laptop and at boot I get Unmountable Boot Volume.

I have been trying to get my machine to boot from the recovery disk, but it
will not. I have been into bios and changed the order to boot from the cd but
nothing.

I continue to go back to the screen that ask if I want to load
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
and so on.

When I select any of these option I the get the Blue screen error
unmountable boot volume.

Any ideas?

Can you please post the complete Stop Error Report?

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Keep pressing the F8
key during Start-Up and select option - Disable automatic restart on
system failure.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

Have you tried Last Known Good Configuration?

What is the hard drive model? Is it still in warranty?

Do you have access to another working computer and an external cradle?

0x000000ED: UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
The kernel mode I/O subsystem attempted to mount the boot volume and it
failed. This error also might occur during an upgrade to Win XP on
systems that use higher throughput ATA disks or controllers with
incorrect cabling. In some cases, your system might appear to work
normally after you restart.

In that case, you do not have the boot sequence set correctly or there is no
bootable CD in the drive, or the CD drive is failing, or you didn't press
Enter when given the chance. Some boot CDs have timeouts that pass control
back to the next device if you don't press a key.

Here are two tests:
Borrow a bootable XP CD, put it in, and reboot. If it doesn't boot to the
CD, you either don't have the boot sequence set properly or the drive has
failed.

Or,
Power off and pull out the hard disk. Now, try rebooting with the CD. If
it doesn't boot, the problems are as above.

When I select any of these option I the get the Blue screen error
unmountable boot volume.

This means that the boot has bypassed the CD. You need to address this
part first.
