Unknown error....Deleted items won't delete

I keep getting an "unknown error" message when I try to delete the items in
the deleted folder....I've tried deleting them one by one.....nothing works.
Each deleted item reads "
Message could not be displayed
Windows Mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this
message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again."
Help...I've tried rebooting, shutting down for an hour, this is driving me
crazy and right about now it's a very short trip!!

Microsoft has a fix for that:

Although that article only mentions Outbox, it works for all mail folders.
