unknown addition to toolbar

J

jdn

I was surfing and now have a toolbar I cannot delete.
It says "MIRAR CUTTING EDGE FEATURES COMINING SOON"
When I go to "view, toolbars" there is a toolbar
named: "NN_webband" that I cannot uncheck. I have a
hunch this is related. How do I get rid of this %#&*^%
thing!
Thank you

Check your system for "hijackware".

I highly recommend using HijackThis
(http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip) to identify and
assist in the removal of these bad guys. **Post your files to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/, not here.**

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.

Follow PABear's advice:

Also, get ToolbarCop:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/utils/ToolbarCop.exe

ToolbarCop removes the Toolbars, Toolbar buttons and unwanted
menu-extensions from Internet Explorer. It does not remove the spyware from
the system entirely. It is advisable to run Ad-Aware scan
(www.lavasoftusa.com), if the toolbar entries are not removed.

THIS WORKED REALLY WELL FOR ME! I have a few blank
toolbar items on IE6 which I could not remove and I think
they were giving me even more pop-up ads!

Thanks so much!!
