Uninstalling additional 2000 installs

I had a virus in my registry on my computer that that
caused my computer to boot up load and then reboot in a
continuous loop. My ERD didn't recover it, using the MMC
didn't either. For fear of loosing my work I decided to
see if re-installing windows would help. I re-installed
windows only to continue to have one problem after the
next.

The bottom line is I had to re-install twice so now I have
my initial install, a Windows1 and a windows 2. The
windows 2 allowed me to boot up correctly but I couldn't
access my files from the original install. So out of
frustration I decided to upgrade to XP. I installed XP
after several attempts. The registry problem in the
orignal install of 2000 got corrected with the install of
XP, but XP can only see my C drive, none of the other
drives are available.

What this has done is enabled me to recover my original
install of 2000 which I want to keep, as well as XP and
just use as a dual boot. My question is how do I remove
the other two windows 2000 that I installed. I used to
dual boot with 98 & 2000, and when I decided to stop using
98 there was somewhere I had to remove the what I thought
was a 98 .ini command so that at boot up it would only
show 2000 instead of 98 and 2000. I know that is what I
need to do to remove the other 2000 installs I just can't
remember where I remove that particular command.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

To delete the other windows installations, you'll need to
edit the hidden system file called boot.ini. In XP, there
is a utility to do this, but I don't remember what it's
called (It's either somewhere in the properties of My
Computer or included with msconfig). Anyway, you'll need
to take out the entries that refer to the other 2
installations and change the DEFAULT entry to the XP
installation.

After that's done, all you have to do is delete the
directories that contain the other installations. That's
it.

After editing boot.ini, you can simply delete the other
installations--assuming they are on separate partitions.

Walter,
Thanks for your help. I have the hidden files set so that I can see them. I did a search for my boot.ini file and the search can't fine one. Any suggestions?
