uninstall defender

After being infected with a number of nasties, I've opted for an alternative
spyware solution.

I've also got a couple of errors caused by defender:

when staring windows this error appears:

Application failed to initialize: 0x008106ba. A problem caused windows
defender service to stop.....

I tried to uninstall via windows add and remove programs but ther is no
'remove' option button under the application to uninstall.

I tried re-installing defender but then get a registry key error:

Could not open key:
HKEY_LOCALMACHINE\SOTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrrentVersion\Run
check permissions etc....

I cannot start the defender console and cannot figure out how to uninstall.

If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.

I am having the same problem except that I am needing to uninstall it Domain
wide on a lot of computers. If I had the uninstall string I could do it
through a script. I don't have an answer but am looking for one too.

Hey mindwhip,
Thanks for sharing and making me feel better I'm not on my own. I found a
post relating to an uninstall string using the command line, I think it was
on this board. I tried, but this did not work.

I'm, bizarly (or maybe related) having the same issue with AVG antivirus.
So for the moment I've disbaled them both and running PC tools apps instead,
whcih I'm finding better than anything I've used before.

I'd appreciate if you could post a solution if you find one, dito for me.
