My friend's computer doesn't recognize CD-ROM anymore. I don't know
when it happened (meaning, if/when/what he downloaded or not.)
There are no icons for CD-ROM drive in My Computer or Device Manager.
Deleting Upper and Lower Filters didn't work.
When Windows XP starts, it doesn't find a new hardware.
When I run add hardware manually, it doesn't find the drive either.
There are no error messages regarding CD-ROM (nor other errors for
that matter)
System restore didn't work.
System recovery wasn't set up.
Can't run a repair installation of Windows XP (no CD-Rom...)
The drive works properly on other computer.
The computer is:
IBM Thinkpad R32, Windows XP professional, no Floppy
I would appreciate any help or advice.
