On my moms laptop when I open ie 6 to view web pages they do not appear. The
progression bar on the bottom of ie only shows about 1/4 done but does not go
past that. The internet connection icon by the clock does not even seem like
its sending & receiving. I tryed to d/l firefox from my pc to see if it was
just ie not working right, but even that did no show any web pages. She ha
win xp sp 2 on the laptop. Any ideas on what to do.

Or, In a Cmd window, enter
ipconfig /flushdns
then clear your TIF also, and re-boot.

I did what you said, in the command prompt window I typed what you said. Its
response was successfully flushed dns cache. Cleared the tif & rebooted the
computer. When I try to view web pages on IE 6 & nothing came up, it was
doing the same as before.

:

ok I will give it a try.

Somehow the command
ipconfig /flushdns
got changed to
ipconfig/flushdns
The space between ipconfig and /flushdns is required.

I did what you said; I went to command prompt window. When it opened it said
this: C:\Documents and Settings\XXXXXXXXX> . XXXX being my mom’s name. I
typed ipconfig /flushdns on the end & pressed enter, when it was done it said
Window IP Configuration. Then cleared the tif & rebooted. When I logged
back on to the Internet & opened the ie 6 to see if the web page would show.
Nothing came up. Should I have had it say C:\ on the command prompt window?
