System:
- Windows XP Professional Edition
- Internet Explorer 6
- Service Pack 2 installed
- Automatic Updates Turned On
- MSN messenger version 7.0 recently installed

The web pages are incomplete the pictures (*gif.*.jpeg) are not displayed.
Links on the web pages do not work.
The web sites which have text versions are displaying same.
When user clicks on the links he is receiving error opening page,
although the link can be accessed directly from address bar.
The msn.com page has been displayed in text version and say something about
latest updates from IE explore pages. But all update been downloaded and
installed.
I believe problem occur when user install MSN messenger version 7.0, but not
sure.

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated

Hi,
That's a lot of problems. There may be a common cause. Disable all
third-party security/privacy programs (briefly) as a test. Several of these
problems might be caused by a security program, firewall, ad-blocker, etc.

Otherwise:

Hyperlinks don't work... http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/nolinks.htm

MSN displaying the text page and mentioning IE updates (version)
This is possibly being caused by a privacy/security program blocking your
user agent information.

Work through this list from MVP Mike Burgess.

Several of these are known to cause problems:
1) Zone Alarm Pro [Private Header Info - enabled]
Turn off "Ad Blocking" and "Cookie Control" in ZAP (Privacy Advisor)

2) Symantec [Enable Browser Privacy - enabled]
Active Content - "Allow All Script To Execute"

3) Any "ad blocking" software that blocks "http_referer"
or contains entries that are blocking access to the desired site.

4) HOSTS file that contains entries that are blocking access to the desired
site.
Note: more on the HOSTS file at
The Hosts File (Gorilla Design Studio): http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/
Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts File:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

5) Cookie blocking software that are blocking "required" Cookies.

6) Pop-up blockers that are stripping header\url info.

7) WebWasher Standard Filter/URL Filter

Hope this helps,
Don

Thank you much.

Problem has been resolved since.

We are using ipcop and recently made an upgrade to the software.
The improper settings resulted in described behaviour.
