Hi Maye,

From Bill Sanderson:

did you try to go to Windows Update site and do a express scan and
download all the updates, including the WD updates?

Hi Maye,

Then Try this:
go to c:\Program Files\Windows Defender\
and right click on AS_Sigs.MSI, choose repair and if that not work
choose Uninstall and try download new def.

Tom:

Your solution was right on. Repair did not work, so I Uninstalled and
Installed. Now Defender is showing that it is up to date and Windows Update
is no longer showing a downloaded Defender update waiting to be installed.
Thanks for the tip.

I did the repair and a get an error saying only for valid products that are
currently installed. And it has been validated tried the uninstall and
reinstall and same error message. What a pain in the ###, about ready just
to uninstall and leave it off it hasn't worked right since they changed over
from the old one which in my opinion was much better. Thank you for your
help anyways.

I also went to add and remove and went to change and it gave me the opinion
of updating or uninstalling choose the update and still got the unable to
complete update. And also the repair I keep getting the same unable to
complete update. I have the first one that microsoft came out with back in
January.

Hi Maye,

don't give up! ;)
First Uninstall WD
Download CCleaner to clean your registry,
http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp
Run the regcleaner and the crapcleaner from CCleaner.
Download this program install it and run it with all the check marks on!
http://download.betanews.com/download/1131569373-2/Dial-a-fix-full.exe
Download WD:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...E7-DA2B-4A6A-AFA4-F7F14E605A0D&displaylang=en
and save it on your desktop and start the install of WD from there.

Good luck! ;)

Hello Maye,

CCleaner also cleans all the temp files that maybe also better, no old
things there anymore! Is also useful to keep it to get rid of the Crap
all the time!

I finally got mine to update by doing the following

1. Click Start, click Run, type wuaucpl.cpl, and then click OK.
2. Click Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install and then
click OK.

After i did that and closed that window...the microsoft update came on and
installed the update and the defender no longer told me to update.

Hope this helps anyone that is having the same problem as I had ...it was
driving me crazy!
