Unable to Update: Class not registered

When trying to update following initial install, I get:

Windows Defender was unable to complete the update 0x80040154. Class not
registered

Is this a problem with the installation? I have rebooted twice to no avail.

Not that this is related but I no not have access to Windows Update. My IT
dept has this disabled on my PC. In other words, Windows Update does not
even show up in my browser. I usually get my updates automatically over my
LAN during bootup, but Defender is not a standard installed component, so it
will unlikely get automatic updates.

Well, talk to your IT dept then..... !

Total anarchy if users thinks that they
can install and run everthing insida a corporate network.

IMHO
