Hi

Try a System Restore, back to a point before the problem started, from Safe
Mode. The Safe Mode option is on the same screen as 'Last Known Good
Configuration'.

Hi Will,

I have the same problem but I can't access windows at all so I can't run
windows restore...now I installed windows in a new folder which is working
but got tw0 windows in my computer and with the new one I can't access
programs and files from the previous windows....would you please help what to
do...

initially the error I had from the 1st windows was that the config file was
misssing???

I hope you can help me
thanks

Hi

Did you try a 'Repair' install of XP on the original version that is
installed? Is the newer installation on the same hard disk/partition as the
original one? If so, unfortunately the references to the already installed
programs would have been lost in the Registry with the newer installation.
Could you please post the contents of the boot.ini file?

Boot with F8 to
Safe Mode - Command Prompt

Give the command
C:\Windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

which will load the regular System Restore interface to restore to an
earlier time, select from the calendar one made before she got at the
machine
