Unable to send emails

As of just a few days ago, I also lost the ability to send emails. The
error message is the same as the two or three other users who have recently
reported this problem. I changed my SMTP port from 25 to 587, but still
being blocked. I also disabled the outgoing email scanner. Have we come up
with the solution to this? Thank you, Jerry

Although the message looks the same to you, but it might be different. To be
considerate of the people that voluntarily choose to help you, they will
appreciate the few seconds you use to copy and paste the entire error
message, just to be sure that any time spent by someone attempting to help
you is not wasted.

There is not one specific cause for failure to send, so it doesn't
make sense to ask for a "solution to this".
If you would like some custom help, right-click on your error
message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

(*) NOT SURE HOW THIS POSTING WORKS?
I GOT IN THIS FAR . .
I have not been able to send out gmail email for 4 months.
How do i know/
1) No replies to the 100 i sent over 4 months.
2) On Aug. 1, a lil box poped up when i was exiting the email client, that
said;
"there are unsent emails in your out box. do you want to send them now?"
Yes (box), No (box), I clicked yes.
over the nxt week, I received numerous replies from persons telling they
just got my email [dated march 25] = 4 months ago!
some of them told me "there must be something wrong with your email sender"

HELP . . ?
HOW CAN I FIX THIS MAJOR PROBLEM.
Unlike the posts above, I do not get an error msg, I don't get any sign of
anything.
thank you for any help, Josh

Tools, Options, Send, "Send messages immediately".

If that was already checked, which antivirus are you running?
Some of them cause problems with Windows Mail over time.

You need to stay alert for problems. If the Outbox folder is shown bold,
with a message count, you know something is wrong, and it needs
investigating.

Hi Gary, I am trying to send emails and the error message says that your SMTP
server has not responded for 60 seconds, would you like to wait another 60
seconds for the server to respond.
Also this message: Subject 'Emailing: DSC00574 (2)', Account: 'Windows
Mail', Server: 'smtp.live.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes,
Error Number: 0x800CCC19
Thanks for your help.

Here is the copy & paste of the error message I get. I've redacted the
email address and account name for privacy reasons. I hope they are not
required for troubleshooting the issue of not being able to send emails over
the last few days. Thank you again, Jerry

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '****.com'. Subject 'Re: mail test',
Account: *********, Server: 'mail.warwick.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts
(#5.7.1)', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number:
0x800CCC79

Try changing port 25 to port 587 (Tools, Accounts, select that account,
Properties, Advanced).

If after doing that you get a different error message, post it.

G

Gary VanderMolen

That error message typically means that your Internet connection
was being obtained from a source other than Warwick.
Try this:
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
Enable the option "My server requires authentication".

If no improvement, are you using a laptop away from home?
Is Warwick your home ISP?

Gary: As in the past, you were very helpful. And as you probably know, the
other entry I needed to make after enabling the "My server...." option was
to change the SMTP port from 25 to 587. Then, since I suspected I got
involved in a spam-type form of email, I changed my email password.
Incidentally, do you know why this blocking of sending emails has been
happening lately? I see it in our MSFT community comments and have recently
also been made aware about it from others. Thank you again, Jerry.

Years ago, anyone could send from anywhere using any SMTP server.
Then the spam problem got bad, and the rules had to be tightened up
in order to restrict the spammers. Mail providers are periodically
reviewing and tightening up their rules, so as not to be branded
'spam-friendly'.

Ignore that samirah. This person did it to another thread, the same way....
" who are you "
See thread titled Spell Check, originated on 8/6/09, by Stuard. Saamirah

Yes, I saw the other replies. I certainly realize that there is not likely
to be someone there that answers a reasonable question in a reasonable
manner, but at least I gave them a chance.
