Email not sending

T

Terry

Since yesterday a.m., I can't send emails using Windows Mail. I can receive,
just can't send. Getting "The connection to the server has failed. Protocol:
SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number:
0x800CCC0E" error message. I can send using the webmail application, but not
Windows Mail. I am using AVG and have tried uninstalling. No luck. Tried
reinstalling without email scanning. No luck. I've changed my outgoing port
to 587. No luck. I've checked "outgoing server requires authentication". No
luck. Called ISP and they say it is a Windows Mail issue. Any other
suggestions? Thanks.

Are you sure that is the entire error message? You can obscure the email
address if it is in the message, but if you include the server then that
might enable someone to help you better. Also, if you can provide the domain
name (the part after the @) of the email address, then that could help
someone to help you. Also, if the ISP is different from any of that, then
provide that information; if you can provide a link to the relevant help
pages then that makes things easier for the people that can help you.

The server is mail.terryjonesagency.com. The domain name is
terryjonesagency.com. It is hosted by Superpages.com.

Chances are, mail.terryjonesagency.com doesn't support port 587,
and your ISP is blocking port 25.

If you are sending from home, substitute the SMTP server belonging to your ISP.

I got back with Superpages and we changed the outgoing port # to 1025 and it
is working now. They do support 587, but not sure why it wasn't working.
Thanks for your help.
