When I tried to reply to a group a got a message "The message could not be
send. No sender was specified. Please check your account information." I
configured the account correctly with server setting as pop.gmail.com,
smtp.gmail.com and Incoming mail server is POP3. I could send email to an
indiviual in the group but I could not send to the group.

Please any reply appreciated.

It is not clear what you mean by "group", so if you can tell us what group,
then that might help someone to provide the most useful and accurate answer.
In particular, if the group is a newsgroup, then you must do things very
differently than what you are doing. If the group is a forum then you don't
need Windows Mail to participate in it, but email can help by sending
notifications of activity. If the group is a mailing list such as Yahoo then
you need to provide more information, since it is abnormal to receive a
message such as that when replying. So please post a reply here that is more
specific about the group.

Thank you for your response.
It is a Newsgroup.

A newsgroup has absolutely nothing to do with your Gmail account.
Your Gmail server names don't belong in a newsgroup account.
In Windows Mail, when you go to Tools, Accounts, do you see the
"Microsoft Communities" news account?
When sending a message to a newsgroup, be sure to click 'Reply Group'
rather than 'Reply'.

Dear Gary VanderMolen,

Let me clarify to you. My Professor has created a Newsgroup for discussion
on the course for students. When I click 'Reply to Group' button, an error
message "The message could not be sent. No sender was specified. Please check
your news account configuration." is occurred.

Now it is working perfectly thanks to Bruce who has been helping me in the
other thread. The problem was the name and E-mail address
fields were empty. I right clicked on the News Server, properties, in the
General tab, User Information, the Name and E-mail address fields were empty.
I filled both fields and now I can send or reply to the group.

Thank you

You can rely on Gray to help you in the future if you have a problem that
you need help with. Gary does help many people, even many that could help
themselves if they were to do a little reading.

One problem is that sometimes people don't know the correct terminology. You
were not familiar with the best terminology to use to describe your problem.
I know what it feels like when I don't know enough to know what terminology
to use to ask a question. I am also someone that tries to help others;
usually I try to help developers (programmers). There is so many people that
don't try to be accurate, yet clear and concise. So people that are
sincerely trying to help get frustrated. You might sometimes get the result
of frustration, but please understand that it is probably the result of many
past experiences, not just you.

So as long as you sincerely try to be accurate and complete, don't let it
get you down if people trying to help sometimes are frustrated.

You would be amazed at the number of times that I transpose characters and
catch the error before anyone else sees them. You certainly would be amazed.
For example, I often say mena instead of mean. I suppose that if I had a
girlfriend called Mena I would likely call her Mean. Most of my spelling
errors do seem to be simple transposition of characters in that manner.
