Sending and receiving POP mail

Following account setup for google mail I cannot send mail and this message
appears:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account:
'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'smtp.gmail.com',

Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0E

I also cannot receive mail and this message appears:

Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server:

Cannot connect to the mail server!', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server
Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90

I have tried this with AVG anti-virus on and off and "Log on using Secure
Password Authentication" is unchecked.

What corrections can I make in Windows Mail to send and receive mail in this
POP account?

Trinity, you have multiple mail problems.
In addition to the settings mentioned by t-4-2, do the following.
Your AVG antivirus was probably installed with its default install option.
If so, uninstall it, then reinstall, but select 'custom' install, which then
allows you to unselect installing its troublesome email scanning module.
