Unable to remotely connect

Does anyone have any idea why I would not be able to connect from my home
network to my office computer. Here is the senario:

I have a laptop with Windows Media Edition. An IT person at my work set up
a VPN connection and a remote desktop shortcut. I can connect from other
places with my laptop (i.e. school and my friends house), but when I am at
home it doesn't work. I get connected to the VPN but I get the generic error
message about not being able to connect to remote desktop. I have Earthlink
DSL. I have tried to connect through my wireless router and by hardwiring
into the DSL Modem. Any Ideas as to what may be causing this would be
appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris
