Unable to Purge DNS Resolver Cache

I am running windows xp. When I try to purge the DNS
resolver Cache using the command "ipconfig/flushdns" I
receive an error message saying "could not flush the DNS
resolver cache: Function failed during execution." Can
anyone help me solve this problem.

First thing to check:

Purging the DNS cache will fail if the
DNS client service is not running.

Start | Run | services.msc

Look for the DNS client service.
