Unable to flush DNS resolver cache

Many times, my network connection does not work when I
boot my machine. Sony Vaio with Windows XP. When I
select the network "repair" button, I get a failure that
it is unable to purge the DNS resolver cache.
ipconfig /flushdns gives a similar error. Could the cache
file be corrupt? If so, how can I repair it?

Can you go to start | run, end enter 'services.msc'.

Look for the 'DNS client' service to be Started, and Automatic.
