I bought a new laptop (HP ZD8320us with MCE 2005) and cannot conect
internet...

I´ve tried to repair the connection without success... the error: "windows
could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be
completed: Cleaning the DNS Cache"

I´ve tried to flush the DNS (in command prompt - ipconfig/flushdns) but I
received the following error: "Could not Flush the DNS resolver cache:
Function failed during execution"

I need your help.... the notebook is brand new and never connected the
internet...

Geraldo,

Is the DNS Client service running? If you're not on a large LAN with a DNS
server, you generally turn off DNS Client and use a Hosts file on each computer
when necessary.

Try using the AOL trial version to connect by phone line or LAN.

Had the same problem with a brand new HP Pavilion Laptop and tried all the
advice here and elsewhere. HP's got a huge problem that is for sure.

Had given up and was going to reinstall using factory restore disk, but then
decided to try connecting using demo AOL trial software preloaded on the
laptop.

It took AOL's auto-connect software a minute to find the LAN connection, but
whatever it did fixed the problem and I am now able to access the Internet
using both my LAN connection or modem without using AOL at all.

We keep an email-only AOL account open as part of our company's emergency
and disaster recovery plan. More than once I've used AOL to fight thru arcane
hotel DSL, wireless and dialup configurations.

AOL really wants you to connect so they can rake in the $$, so their
software seems to try every trick in the book to get new users connected to
their money machine.... so beware, AOL will load all sorts of autodialer and
floating menus that you have to unload and disable. Thus there is a price to
this fix. Be sure to uninstall all of it if not an AOL user otherwise it will
drive you nuts later on.

Hope this helps.
