Unable to publish get error sharepoint error

I have FP2003 installed on XP/sp2 both are fully patched and up-to-date. Two
days ago I started getting an error when attempting to open or publish our
site. The error is a pop-up that says:

Unable to open 'http://www.marana.com'.
Server error: The web server at "http://www.marana.com" does not appear to
have Windows Sharepoint Services installed.
Possible causes:
1. The web server may not have the Frontpage Server Extensions installed.
2. The web server may be temporarily out of service.
3. If you are connecting through a proxy server, the proxy settings may be
incorrect.
4. An error may have occured in the web server.

If this server does not support Frontpage Server Extensions, Frontpage may
still be ablet o publish to the server via FTP or WebDAV. Please select one
fo these options and try again.

I've ruled out #1. The extensions are installed. When I browse to
http://www.marana.com/_vti_inf.html and look at the source I see:

--><!-- FrontPage Configuration Information
FPVersion="5.0.2.4330"
FPShtmlScriptUrl="_vti_bin/shtml.dll/_vti_rpc"
FPAuthorScriptUrl="_vti_bin/_vti_aut/author.dll"
FPAdminScriptUrl="_vti_bin/_vti_adm/admin.dll"
TPScriptUrl="_vti_bin/owssvr.dll"

Our ISP tells me the site is running on a W2K server, not W2K3.

I don't believe it is #2 since the site is serving pages to our customers,
and our ISP has advised us that no other customers on that server are having
a problem (it is a virtual hosting server).

I've ruled #3 as we do not use a proxy at this location.

I do not believe it is #4, but we are waiting on the ISP to review their logs

Have the admin of the server run a server health check.

Our ISP has already run a repair/reinstall of the extensions and nothing
changed.

I will ask them to run a server health check and report back.

I'm not sure if this means anything. Our ISP is running a virtual hosting
server software called "Sphera" on their W2K box. They tell me that the
extensions are installed and uninstalled through that softwares interface and
there is no repair utility. When I asked if the repair can be done from the
MMC or other appropriate tool they said no, it all had to be done from within
this softwares interface. I googled but could not find a whole lot of info on
this software.

I have experience this exact problem as of today. I have always been able to
upload throiugh http:// until today. The exact error message comes up.
Called hosting company and the server is fine. I upload from FTP and it
seemed to work, but I would rather post through http://. Can anyone help me?
PLEASE!

Since you have use FTP, you will now have to ask the hosting company to re-install the extensions
before you are able to use http again.

I logged onto my account with godaddy and reinstalled the extensions. it is
pending now - see message. I hope this works. Do I still have to reinstall
the extensions even though I had used http:// before? thanks.

Installing FrontPage Server Extensions on your hosting account will enable
you to publish your Web site using Microsoft FrontPage. FrontPage Server
Extensions also allow you to implement other FrontPage specific components
like forms, counters, and discussion boards.

NOTE: If you do not install FrontPage Extensions, you must use FTP to
publish your Web site content.
