Unable to ping other home pc

David

Hi, I have a small workgroup at home in which two computers, one 2000 and
one XP are behind a lynksys router which is wired (not wireless). I was able
to see the other pc and share files. All of a sudden I am no longer able to
do this. I can't even ping either computer however, I can ping the router. I
haven't changed anything. Is here anything I should look for. Both pc's are
part of the same workgroup. I even added the ip and computer names to the
lmhosts file. I am however able to connect to the internet from either PC.

Thanks
David

Have you tried resetting the router? Occasionally in my humble
experience, those Linksys devices need to have the power pulled. Wait
for a count of, oh let's say 10, then plug it back in. If you have made
any configuration changes you may want to back them up if you can or
write them down so you can reconfigure after power comes back up. It
may not be necessary, but I have seen them reset to defaults for some
reason.

You can also do this with the "Reset" switch on the back of the unit,
but I have found this more trouble than it's worth. Others may disagree.
