dear sir,
I have a local LAN for about 40 pc's connected thru
10/100 fast ethernet dlink switch.
The remote systems having same workgroup & subnet mask
connected on the same switch are visible in my network
places( all pc's are having windows2000 prof as an os)
One of them Pc is using IIS for some application.
The system having IIS is able to ping remote pc but
vice a versa is not possible.I tried with host name,ip
address the result of pinging is remain same.
So I request you you how to trace & remove the problem.

Yea, thats one issue with windows i guess. What happens
is, your remote machine might be having more than one
NICs? It might be having a default gateway. Whenever you
ping your IIS from your remote machine, it would try to
look for it on the default gateway side and thus get timed
out. Although since your IIS is able to ping remote
machine you can share files and folders if that is what
you want to do?
