Workgroup communications

T

Torky

Have a basic home network with a cable router to a Netgear 114P
Firewall that has two PC's, one Win2K Adv Server SP3 the other Windows
XP Pro with all updates.

Able to use the Internet fine and able to Ping the Gateway 192.168.0.1
from each PC.

My problem is I'm unable to Ping each computer or see the Workgroup?

Using DHCP for both PC's and have set them to use Netbios over TCP/IP

Same workgroup is set, Workgroup

Reboot each PC.

Still no go?

Even setup an Lmhosts file and reboot each PC, still no PING?

Open to suggestions!!

Thank you

Hi Torky,

If the computers are going through the firewall router, this is why. They can ping the gateway
because the firewall allows that. But they cannot ping each other. This also happens with ICF
enabled on the computers. External Ip's work ok but to browse the workgroup or ping
internally, you will have to disable ICF or configure your firewall to allow it.

Thanks,
Gary
