Unable to launch Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro, get error message " Adobe Acrobat 9.0
has encountered a problem and must close".
Computer = Win XP pro/SP3, MS Office 2007 pro, visual studio 2005 pro.
Problem = Loaded Adobe Acrobat 9.0 pro and received above error message.
Worked with Adobe tech support for 10 day. No success, they gave up.
Encountered several other minor glitches in other programs too, but not this
error message. Suspect malware problem. Run windows firewall detection, AVG
scan, Intelinet scan, MaxRegistery Cleaner, Registry Fix with no success
after they removed the detected problems. AVG found
"C:\AdobeV7\Adobe-Flash.exe\I-Worm/Nuwar.V", removed it and still have same
problem. Installed Adobe Acrobat 9.0 on another computer with success.
Suspect I have a malware problem.
Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you download and run Spybot S & D (freeware version). There
is a freeware version buried in this link:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
1.32 -freeware (if you upgrade you pay).
http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

Run Malwarebytes' in safe mode and turn off your current anti-virus
before you do to avoid a conflict. Disregard the invitation on the web
site regarding the Registry Optimiser -a Registry Optimiser is not a
helpful utility.

Hope this helps.

My situation was not exactly as you described, but the following might
give you a couple of ideas to try.

I had (only) a 3-day situation where 7.0 wouldn't install, claiming my
"configuration" was improper. It installed ok on another computer.
After speaking with techs, one of them told me Adobe on occasion would
send the user a CD which does not require an installation key. So
that's one approach (I didn't get one since another tech solved my
problem).

Somewhere in an Adobe-related folder (I don't remember folder or name
of the file) is a configuration file. That file was corrupted. The
tech had me delete the file. Acrobat created a new one automatically
and I haven't had a problem since.
