Unable to install SP2 after a repair install

I XP SP2 on the machine, then had to do a repair install for a boot sector
problem. The original CD came with SP1 on it. Now I am unable o install SP2.
About 1/2 way through the install it gets an error and then I have to back it
out. The error is just a pop-up and does not identify a reason why this would
happe, I have all firewalls, virus porotection and adaware off.

I would recommend creating a new Windows XP CD
with SP2 slipstreamed in, then perform a "Repair Install".
You can use your current Windows XP CD to
accomplish this.

Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming
(integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze:

or

AutoStreamer 1.0.33 (preferred)
