Unable to get to the internet/ Error message says that my modem is being used by some onee else

My computer continues to freez-up and not allow me to get to the internet. I'am continuesly told that my modem is busy and being used, " I have shut down every program in or on my computer" and I still get these error messages that my computer is in use. I can't get to my on boards appointment book. nor can I continue to research. Not for nothing, but ca

It sounds like you have a dialer of some sorts running in
the background. I would try running HIJACKTHIS.EXE or
ADAWARE. Adaware can be downloaded from

http:\\www.lavasoftusa.com

This should fix you up.
