unable to get renderer

I am trying to log on to my work email. I typed my logon ID and hit enter and
I got a message unable to get renderer...runtime script error. I'm using win
xp sp2. While I'm trying to log on, a windows update is going on the
background. How do I go about fixing this error. Please help.
