unable to get printer to work after reinstalling

I LIVE IN PORTUGAL BUT DO NOT YET SPEAK PORTUGUESE. MY PRINTER, AND HPDESKJET 3420, MAY HAVE HAD AN OPTION AT THE VERY FIRST INSTALLATION TO CHOOSE ENGLISH AS THE DEFAULT LANGUAGE HOWEVER, I DIDN'T SPOT IT ON THE FIRST INSTALLATION, AND SO WHEN I DISCOVERED THE DEFAULT LANGUAGE WAS PORTUGUESE, I THEN UNINSTALLED THE PRINTER, HOPING TO HAVE THE OPTION TO CHOOSE ENGLISH THE SECOND TIME. THERE WAS NO OPTION WHEN I REINSTALLED THE PRINTER SOFFTWARE THE SECOND TIME, AND NOW I CAN'T GET THE PRINTER TO WORK AT ALL. PERHAPS IT THINKS I AM TRYING TO PIRATE. ANYWAY, IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN SOLVE THIS OR DO I HAVE TO GO AND BUY ANOTHER HP PRINTER?

Remove the printer from the Device Manager and Registry and check with HP.
