Unable to delete files in recycler/nprotect

Jeff

I am trying to make space on a drive and I found 13 Gig
of space in the hidden directory recycler/nprotect and I
was able to delete 4 GIg of them but I'm unable to delete
the rest. They are all files that are 8 numbers followed
by a . (dot). I was able to delete the files that had an
extention but the files without one I keep on getting an
error 'Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source
file or disk.'

The drive is only used for storing files before I install
them and there is no programs running off the drive.

I have tried in safe mode and I also have disabled System
restore on that drive. I have at one time run Norton
Unerase on the drive and I also use Secure Clean to
delete files that I no longer need.

Thanks Jeff

Hi Jeff

I have exactly the same problem! I phoned Symantec suppor
but they didn't have a clue what I was talking about, nor did
find any reference to this problem in their support documents
The unwanted files takes up 9.3 GB of my disk. I tried to us
ZTreeWin do delete the NPROTECT directory without an
success. Does anyone have a suggestion what to do excep
to format the disk and reinstall WinXP

Thanks, ulfb

Hi Jeff and everyone with the same problem!

I have found a solution! Download "Delete FXP Files" from
http://www.deletefxpfiles.com/index2.html
Delete the files in recycler/nprotect and free up
disk space. An unregistered version of "Delete FXP Files"
can delete 10 files at a time.

Good luck, ulfbz
