unable to copy photos to CD

At some point in the last few months, I lost the capability to save photos to
a CD. I used to have the option of "copy to CD" in my "my photos" section.
That is gone.
I read the answer to one of the other questions posted and tried to go under
"send to" and click on the CD driver but that is not an option. The closest
option is the "removable disk g drive". I went and bought a jumpdrive to
plug into the g drive and try to save them that way. It worked. I can now,
at least, get my photos off my desktop and go print them at the store. I
still want to copy to CD. I didn't want to reboot if I didn't have to, but
at least I can save all my photos to the jumpdrive before I go and mess any
further with the computer. Any suggestions?
CAn I just reinstall the CD driver or "my photos" section of Windows? I
have no clue how it disappeared in the first place and system restore did
nothing....

Does "my computer" show the drive?
If it doesn't, then examine the hardware management section of the control
panel to see if there is an exclamation mark
beside the driver listing.
If it doesn't, then perhaps you need to reset the "upper filter" and the
"lower filter". There is
a Help & Support article which discusses how to perform this task.
If neither of things are applicable, then you probably need a new drive.

To get the "Copy to CD" back do the following:
Click on Start and click on Run. In the opening textbox, type the following:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press Enter.
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...
This will take a second to run and should bring back this command.

I had found this suggestion after I had posted my dilemma and tried it
before. It didn't work. I just tried it again and it didn't work. Do I
have to restart the computer, because that didn't help, either. It said
"succeeded" after I typed it in, but when I went to "my pictures" and clicked
on a file or a photo to copy, my options were just view, order, print, and
set as background. I am very perplexed. There were several suggestions as I
read other posts, but they didn't work, either. I had tried to turn
something on in the control panel that should say automatic...I tried to see
if I had a particular program that needed updated (which I couldn't find that
particular program on my computer.). I use windows media player to do much
of my work.
I hope this gives you a little more to work with. I have the same problem
on both of my desktop and laptop computers. I spent the last week
downloading all of my photos to a flash drive USB so that I can reboot if I
have to.

OK.
Open My Computer, right click on your CD drive and click on Properties.
Click on the recording tab and click on Enable.

oh my god....it's back. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I enabled the cd drive and I
have my copy to CD back. This means so much to me. I can't thank you
enough.
This website and community board was SUPER helpful and made me feel like I
wasn't alone with my problems with my computer. I am no longer the
frustrated mom. I am going to go and try this same option on my desktop but
at least I have my option back on my laptop.
