Unable to change default font in Outlook 2007

I am unable to change the default font for Outlook 2007.

I go to Tools > Options > Mail Format > Stationery and Fonts. I click the
Font button under New mail messages and change it to Verdana 10 pt. regular.
Click OK twice.

When I open a new mail message, the default font still displays as Times New
Roman 12 pt.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Office has already been uninstalled and
reinstalled.

What message format are you using? Did you change it for both html (new mail
messages) and plain text?
