Default Font Help

I am using Outlook Express 6.
I went to Tools - Options - Compose.
Under Compose Font (Mail) I selected
12 pt. Times New Roman
It says that now.
However, when I press Create Mail
and click in the message field,
Arial 10 is the font that the New Message comes up in.

Unless I am very off my mark, the New Message should have opened with the
12 pt. Times New Roman font, but for some reason my choice is being ignored.

Is there another location for setting the font variable that might be over
riding this one?

All help appreciated,
