Unable to boot xp pro

I get the following (blue screen) error message when booting my PC with XP
Pro.

Stop: C0000135 {unable to locate component}. This application has failed to
start because basesrv was not found. Re-installing this application may fix
this problem.

Can anyone please explain to me what this message referes to and if possible
how to cure it.

I am having the same problem. Jim Eshelman's web site does not tell yo
how to fix this problem. You can't download stuff if the computer keep
restarting. I can't even go into safemode because it restarts. When
disable the reboot on system failure I keep getting the same message.
