Problems with GDI32.dll not found

"STOP: C0000135 Unable to locate component. This application has failed to
start because GDI32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix
the problem."

Sorry did not finsh the post.

My PC (Dell XPS600)froze up last night and I restarted it. I got the blue
screen with the following message. I tried to run in safe mode but I get the
same blue screen and error message. I treid running repair with my install
XP Pro disk but got into DOS and C:\windows directory but can not run the
repair function. Any help out there would be appreciated. Thanks, cmg
