Unable to boot up with XP after the first phase of installation

Hi,
I'm trying to upgrade from Windows 2000 Pro to XP Pro.
In the initial phase of the installation (the first time
it reboots), it is unable to boot up with XP. I got the
boot screen where Windows XP Pro is the default OS. Once
it tries to boot up from XP, it freezes with a blank
screen - no error messages or anything. It just hangs.
Has anyone had this problem before? I appreciate any
help.
Thanks,
Calvin

Is it a black screen/blinking cursor or just nothing? How far after the
boot.ini is it getting?
