unable to boot to normal mode

While my box was in a blank screen saver, it locked up
horribly. Since it was nothing but black, I couldn't see
it's final moments. But now everytime I try to boot up, it
goes through the "Windows is Starting Up" screen through
11 of the status blocks, then it stops reading the HDD,
and locks up.

I'm still able to boot into safe mode, but even doing that
takes a good 6-7 minutes to do.

In safe mode, the Event Veiwer contains Errors such as:
Application Log:
Source: rasctrs Event: 2001
the descriptiong for event ID 2001 in source rasctrs
cannot be found. the local computer may not have the
necessary registry information or message DLL files to
display messages from a remote computer. The follosing
information is part of the event: The even log file is
corrupt.

Source: PerfNet Event: 2002
Unable to open the redirector service. Redirector
performance data will not be returned. Error code returned
is in data DWORD 0.

and another PerfNet event 2004, another event 1000

In system Log, there are a pile of Service Control Manager
errors and DCOM errors. Event 7001, 7026, 10010 are the
ones that ocure.

I've ran virus scans and so forth and see no reason why it
won't boot. Thanks for the help

Well, I've already searched all the events in the
Knowledge Base, and none of them have come up with
anything. I noticed when boots in safe mode, it seems to
lag a bit on mup.sys. So I deleted it, disabled it, and
removed all of it in reg, since it's not of any use to me,
but that didn't change a thing. I'm running low on ideas
now, besides format, which is usually the best option ...

The system log events will be the ones you'll want to be concerned with.
