Unable to boot after SP2 installation.

I just switched Mobo and cpu (Athlon64 3200+) and after a fresh WinXP Pro
install everything worked as expected, until I reisntalled SP2. The
installation itself went uneventful -SP2's- but when I tried to reboot, the
system wouldn't. The system won't boot exept under Safe Mode. I unistalled
SP2 -under SafeMode- and everything went back to normal.
Any known workarounds? Is this normal with the Athlon 64 , is this problem
related to the CPU change at all?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Did you check for updated drivers from the manufacturers?
BIOS upgrades?

First, thanks Shenan.
Yes to both; the chipset is a VIA and I istalled the last 4-1 drivers
available, dito for the BIOS I check for this and I have the last one
available.
Any more ideas? I have SP2 installed in all 4 PCs at home plus I did have it
in this one and everything always worked fine. My first bad exerience has
been this one after switching to the Athlon 64.
