Unable to create IWbemLocator object after installing SP2...

After installing Windows Xp (SP1) and several programs including anti-virus,
software firewall (other than that in SP2 {now turned off}), adware/spyware
protection, all items were working as normal. No issues on anything.

This system is based on the ABIT AL8 motherboard which has a feature called
the micro Guru. A small microprocessor is located on the motherboard that
the program can talk to using the system COM. Using the software is
important at this point because the CPU is being cooled using a
liquid-cooling system. This can leave the PWM unprotected (no CPU fan) and
can get quite hot if the system fans are throttled back during low CPU usage
level programs.

As stated, everything was working fine until I allowed the Windows Update to
install SP2. Since then, I have checked every single program and system on
this computer and can only find one program that will not function. That is
the ABIT micro Guru. Without it, I am not able to monitor the system
temperatures or fan speeds within the system.

The error that pops up after you attempt to launch the program is as follows.

"Unable to create IWbemLocator object"

Also, viewing the Applications Events Log, this statement is recorded each
time I attempt to launch the program.

"Faulting application uguru.exe, version 3.0.0.6, faulting module
abiteq.dll, version 3.0.0.4, fault address 0x000015ff."

As much as I would like to believe that this has to do with the program or
the DLL itself, the point is that it was working under SP1. It has been
suggested that the timeout settings might be too short for the IWbemLocator
to connect with the host CPU (uGuru) on the motherboard. This is something I
have no control over, but I do need to know if the SP2 upgrade has changed
anything within the system COM procedures, settings, defaults and connection
methods. If so, the software will not be able to function properly as
written and will need to be adjusted to work with different DLL's and
possibily another connection method using the files available under SP2.

I have been in contact with ABIT on this subject, and they continue to work
the issue at their end. Other than this one issue, the system works with
everything else that has been installed, ................. so far. Using an
Intel Pentium D 840 with a pair of DDR2-667MHz 1GB modules for memory, the
speed is unbelievable!

Any help from anyone on this issue is welcome!
If fixed, the information will be made available to ABIT and their forums.
Many of their motherboards have big followings.
