Unable to access websites that require login since XPpatch

Similar to Helen's problem below. Websites that require
a login are unable to be opened. I have scoured the net
looking for a solution to no avail.

Windows update page will also not open.

My problem is even more severe....I am having "Helen's problem"...and I
can't open any msn/microsoft pages. I know there is nothing wrong with
the network here at my work (because any other cpu in the network does
everything just fine). I've gone through and checked all my settings
numerous times, and everything is fine. So if anyone has ANY idea as
to why, please let me know ASAP.
