Unable to access Icon Properties

When I right click on any icon, and then click on properties, I get the
message:
Fatal Erro: We are very sorry, but an internal error occured. Please
reinstall the product to fix the problem. Error-Code: 1/ -3/9000 See Doc
#5305. At that point, Windows Explorer shuts down and begins to repair
itself and then restarts. Puzzling since the Windows Explorer isn't running.
I've looked for the error code and Doc #5305 with no success. Any help
would be greatly appreciated. I'm feeling dead in the water.

Okay, I understand. So what I have is a problem with the Window Explorer.
Any suggestions?

Windows explorer is runnimg. The icons are part of your desktop, and your
desktop is part of Windows Explorer

Has anyone had this problem? Please, I am totally frustrated. I'm
completely unable to access "Properties" for any of my desktop icons. When I
try, windows explorer quits working after I get the following error message.
HELP PLEASE!
