Right Click and No Properties

Right Clicking to open the properties of anything works fine until I try to
open shortcut icons, some files and folders. I get a fatal error message and
then Window Explorer shuts down and then restarts. No access denies or
request for permission, just shut down and restart. Any ideas?

Did it ever work correctly on that particular machine? Could be a hard
disk error or a corrupt file. I would start by checking the filesystem
for errors. Also, try sfc /scannow from a command prompt.

No it has never worked. This has been going on since I upgraded from WinXP
to Vista 2 weeks ago. I just finished a re-install of Vista and it didn't
fix the problem. Everything worked fine in WinXP, so it doesn't seem to me
it's something I would have carried over from XP in the Vista upgrade.

I have been checking the filesystem without luck. I'm trying a process by
elimation of running processes and haven't come up with anything there as
yet.

It seems like something is conflicting with Window Explorer. Could be a
corrupt file, but I would have thought that that would have been taken care
of during the re-install of Vista.

Haven't tried sfc /scannow from a command prompt, but will give that a try.

Thanks for responding. I need all the help I can get on this one. It has
me scratching my head. Thanks again.
