Ubuntu wubi installer

I had read so much about the Ubuntu version of Linux but I was always leery
about trying it because of the hassle of the installation. Then I read
about the Wubi installer and thought it was a foolproof way to try it out.
I took the plunge, and after a few aborted tries, I got it up and running.

After playing around with Ubuntu/Firefox for several days, I found it to be
fast at loading Internet pages but quite limited in features and functions
when compared to XP/IE7 in other aspects. It was fun to play with but a
pretty lame replacement for what I am used to.

The good news is that it was easily removed with no apparent bad effects on
my basic XP/IE7 setup.

I realize that this is a help/problem forum but I thought my experience with
Ubuntu might be of interest for those who have been curious about it.

Plug-ins anyone?

I find that it will not release my ethernet with a warm reboot.
I hve to cycle the power to get my internet connectivity back in
XP after running Kubuntu 9.04 (the latest reelase, but the 8.10
did the same). I have no idea why it won't "let go."

It also seems to have a real hard time dealing with two
monitors; something that XP handles easily. Annoying, so for me
it's not yet worth the trouble.
