tyan motherboard video woes

Have tyan motherboard which has an onboard video
card. After power on have 'FF' code displayed on the
motherboard LED but no beeps and no output to the screen.
Tried using PCI-X video card without any results.
Manual doesn't state anything regarding the FF code
so I don't know what's wrong. The only
related problem i found on the web is from some person
who fixed it by changing jumpers on the mobo.
Unfortunately the manual isn't clear enough
on what, if anything, I have to change.

If anyone has any tips I would be very interested in
hearing them out.

Well, lets see. You want tips on changing jumpers, and
you don't even mention the motherboard model number!
Some Tyan boards have a number of jumpers on them,
because of the extensive I/O options.

FF is pretty universal. It means the processor was not
able to execute any code at all. FF is the default
state for a port 80 display. (00 is also a favorite, so
it is one or the other). Any code which is not 00 or FF,
was put there by the execution of BIOS code, so then you
know that the processor has executed some BIOS code.

My guess would be, you forgot one of the many power
cables, needed to make those boards work.

Here is the mobo model number:

Three power cables. 2x2 + 2x4 + 24 pin. The first two of those, carry 12V to
the board.

JP3 controls the clear CMOS function and jumper should be on pins 1-2.

Check that the power switch and reset switch are on the correct pins.
The reset switch is not absolutely necessary for initial testing. And
you've already proved the power switch works. Remove the reset switch,
in case it is shorting the reset to ground because of a bad (always
closed) switch.

The first doc shows jumpers, but the second (six part) manual is
really needed, to get more details.

If using only one CPU, there are two CPU slots (CPU1 and CPU2),
and CPU1 is closest to the NFP3600. So the CPU would go into
"CPU1" and at least one stick of RAM into the DIMM slots near
CPU1.
