Anyone know UK source for Tyan motherboards?

D

Dave (from the UK)

I'm looking for at least one, possibly two of the Tyan Thunday K8WE
(S2895) motherboard *with* Ultra 320 SCSI. This is for dual Opteron
processors.

http://www.tyan.com/products/html/thunderk8we.html

P/N S2895UA2NRF

If anyone has these in the UK, or is a dealer able to export a one/two,
let me know the cost of one shipped to England. The only UK source I
have found is about 60% more expensive than a US one.

Also possibly looking for one of the following.

1) Tyan Tiger K8W (S2875)
http://www.tyan.com/products/html/tigerk8w.html
dual processor version - part number S2875ANRF

2) Tyan Tiger K8SSA (S3870)
http://www.tyan.com/products/html/tigerk8ssa.html
Part number S3870G2NR

Thanks, I should have mentioned I found several here, but they are a lot
more expensive than US dealers. I don't see where there should be such a
disparity.

That guys feedback is pretty horrid. He says the boards are tested
before he dispatches them, but looking at the feedback comments, things
are not new and often have bits missing.

I'd rather get the board from someone a bit more relieable.

I have looked quite a bit.

The norm here seems to be about £400 (including VAT) - never more than
£405 or less than £395. But that is a lot more expensive than in the US,
where is available for around $499

http://www.dealtime.com/xPO-EATX_MBD_DUAL_K8WE_2XPCIE_SCSI_SATA2_13

converting the $499 to pounds, we get £286. Adding VAT and import duty
that is about £343. So basically £57 more than in the US even after duty
have been added.

Now I'd like to know if I can cut out some of the middle men and save
some of that £57. If shiping is £20, that still leaves quite a bit that
seems to be added on here, but is not in the US.

I doubt they are made in the US either.

I might well buy two, so are perhaps in a better position to get a deal.
Hence I am asking around.
